CREATIVE RETREAT
OVERVIEW
The Art Exchange is a creative initiative designed to stimulate introspection, creativity, foster community, and integrate accountability into art-making. The Art Exchange helps individuals connect and share aspects of themselves through an introduction, creation and exchange of personal artwork. Activities proposed for a Creative Retreat will include a group dialogue sessions about implementing effective communication, encouragement, and a creative session around art making and accountability.
Prior to a Creative Retreat with your community, workplace, or school, participants will be asked to complete a short form so that I can get to know them better, including their interests, hobbies, and other questions related to the activity. Using this as a foundation for matchmaking, I will connect participants to their new art pen-pal.
On the day of the event, participants will have time to begin to create their art, but given additional time to finish and exchange art work. At the end of the project, participants will be encouraged to complete a post-participation survey to reflect on their experiences.
PURPOSE
Participants will walk away from this activity with new perspectives of their friends, love ones, colleagues or classmates, a special connection to their art pen-pal, and a deeper understanding of themselves. By creating this space for introspection and creation, you are investing in a connected-community in pursuit of a collective responsibility to help lift eachother up. Connected-communities fuel felt trust, sharing, accountability, and motivation.
